What’s Ihdzí’ all about?

Ihdzí’ is a Northern Tutchone word, meaning “heart”. Ihdzí’ is a collaborative initiative shared between Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Development Corporation and Yukon University’s Mayo Campus, and made possible through the generous support of the Government of Canada’s Northern Economic Development Agency. Together we are working to build a space that supports gathering, growth, and belonging. Ihdzí’’s goal is ambitious. We aim to fill a number of amenities and service gaps in our community, all within a safe and inclusive atmosphere. The priority areas for us includes, food for purchase, diverse and relevant programming, consistent and reliable hours of operation, and a space for events, gathering, and everything in between.

The good news is, with this flexibility Ihdzí’ has the opportunity to grow and evolve in a way that is community-informed and community-focused. We don’t know what Ihdzí’ will look like in two years, five years, ten years. But, we’re focused on sustainability and remaining in community long-term. Have your say in how Ihdzí’ can grow, and how you want to get involved!

Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Development Corporation:
Sister Investments

As the active business arm of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun, the Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Development Corporation (NNDDC) is dedicated to fostering the wellbeing of our people, lands, and waters. We look at the idea of wealth through the lens of Dooli Law, and know that making good money by doing good things means reinvesting those profits back into community in a good way. Ihdzí’ is the product of this approach to community development. Through a variety of ongoing support from funders, partners, and profits from our strategic investments, we’ve been able to breathe life into this space, and address a number of service gaps in our community. Our team couldn’t be more proud of this space and what it means for long-term sustainable resources for our Northern Tutchone community.
